The Witchblade anime series is set to receive a collector's Blu-ray release on Monday, March 13th. The series is based on the American comic book of the same name and originally aired in Japan in 2006. The series follows the story of Masane Amaha, a single mother who is bestowed with a powerful weapon called the Witchblade, which gives her extraordinary abilities in her quest to protect her daughter and uncover the truth behind the weapon's origins.
The collector's edition Blu-ray will feature all 24 episodes of the series, along with bonus content such as trailers, clean opening and ending animations, and a featurette on the making of the series. The release will also include a full-color booklet and a collector's box to house the discs. The Blu-ray will be available for purchase from select retailers and online stores.
The Witchblade anime was directed by Yoshimitsu Ohashi and produced by studio Gonzo. It received mixed reviews upon its original release, but has since gained a dedicated following. The series features an original storyline separate from the comic book series and is often praised for its action sequences and character development.
