Tokyo, Japan - The highly popular anime series Naruto is set to celebrate its 20th anniversary with the release of four brand new episodes. The announcement was made by the official website of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on March 9, 2023.
The four new episodes will be included in a DVD/Blu-ray box set that will also feature all 220 episodes of the original Naruto series and the three Naruto films. The new episodes are titled "The Day Naruto Became Hokage," "Naruto and Hinata," "Sasuke's Story: Sunrise," and "Shikamaru's Story: A Cloud Drifting in Silent Darkness." While "The Day Naruto Became Hokage" was previously released in 2016, the other three episodes are entirely new and have not been previously aired.
The Naruto series, which was created by Masashi Kishimoto, first began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1999 and has since become a worldwide phenomenon with a huge fan base. The anime adaptation of the series aired from 2002 to 2007 and followed the story of a young ninja named Naruto Uzumaki as he sets out to become the Hokage, the leader of his village.
The box set is scheduled to be released in Japan on July 5th, 2023, and fans of the series are eagerly anticipating the release. While there is currently no word on whether the episodes will be released outside of Japan, many fans are hoping for a worldwide release to celebrate the series' 20th anniversary.
The Naruto franchise has continued to expand over the years, with the sequel series Naruto Shippuden and the spin-off series Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. With the release of these new episodes, fans of the original series will have the opportunity to revisit some of their favorite characters and moments from the show.
